Progressivism is precisely what is destroying this country and YES both Newt and Trump ARE progressives. They talk tough, but both advocate big government.

Just when did Progressivism enter the Lexicon? Was that when they decided that Republicans are red and Democrats are blue?
Progressivism didn’t exist in the 80’s. We called them Liberals back then, and held them in disdain.
In the 90’s with Clinton, the Democrat Party’s center collapsed and the ultra liberal, aka Progressives took power within the Democratic party. They browbeat the Democratic center until they pulled even farther left and identify as Progressives themselves now and are perfectly content with the Status Quo.
This left a huge gap in the political center, filled in but what is now known as RINOs, which can be further divided to Rino-Left and Rino-Right two natural enemies of each other and cannot be reconciled. In between you have the center of the party split between supporting RINO-left and RINO-right.
