Among the Republican presidential candidates, Mike Huckabee and Ted Cruz have stood out as the two most ardent defenders of Kentucky clerk Kim Davis, who was recently jailed after refusing to issue same-sex marriage licenses in her jurisdiction. The two conservatives made a point to travel down to the Carter County Detention Center on Tuesday to join protesters in support of Davis, but the plans changed slightly when a judge ordered her immediate release.
And then comes the following doozy from the New York Times write-up of this afternoons Kim Davis Release Extravaganza (emphasis ours):
"The rally Tuesday had been scheduled before it was known whether Ms. Davis would be released. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, also a Republican presidential contender, made an appearance, but it was Mr. Huckabee, a former Baptist pastor, who grabbed the political spotlight.
When Senator Cruz exited the jail a throng of journalists beckoned him toward their microphones, but an aide to Mr. Huckabee blocked the path of Mr. Cruz, who appeared incredulous."
You must be shocked, dear reader, to learn that Huckabee planned to hog the Davis-induced political spotlight all for himself. Why else would he make such a low-key statement like Im willing to go to jail in her place?
Atheist that you are, I understand why Cruz gets under your skin so easily.
Man Up? Horn his way into a rally staged by another candidate, uninvited? He would have been lambasted for doing that.
Cruz will have his day in the sun tomorrow.
LOL
Yeah, Cruz is well-known for being weak and reticent./S
I had forgotten that Huckabee can be easily conned.
Do you mean is he a wimpy pussy?
]Yes, but don’t worry I’m sure he’ll write a letter or go to the Senate Chamber and complain about how Huckabee lied to him.
Louie; So YOU think he(cruz) should SHUT UP?..
Accept it.. just move on?..
Forget it.?. Don’t mention it.?. give it rest.?. Be a wimp?..
Actually, they were 4 Lakewood City police officers that he killed.
Same difference though.
I am disturbed with what the staffer did, but I am just as disturbed that the man who says he will stand up to Iran, Putin and the amnesty lobby just took it. I am not a Trump supporter, but I can't imagine this is how he would have reacted (if he would ever have supported Kim Davis).
On the other hand, I guess he could've karate chopped his way to the microphone.
Not shocked! On CNN, it showed Ted Cruz coming out of the building and he was walking toward the front when a man suddenly blocked him and I believe he was pointing at Ted’s face. That is where it occur I believe. If anyone has a video of Ted Cruz walking out of the building it will show the confrontation by Huckster’s thugs.
I hope Mr. Trump and Senator Cruz slap beotch him along with Yeb.
I saw it on CNN live, and yes a man stood in front of Ted as he was walking out from the building.
“Well hasn’t Ted Cruz excluded his opponents from speaking at his anti-Iran Deal Rally? What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.”
Well, I thought I heard that Huckabee had invited Cruz to be there. It is Cruz’ prerogative to invite or not invite other candidates to an event.
I have a feeling that Lewis doesn’t like Cruz because his mother is Irish and Eye-talian. Oh, he would say no,no,no, but something more has to account for his naked hatred for a good man.
I personally know some who dislike Italian-Americans.
That’s right...I forgot about that.
“Martin’s comments echo those of Cruz last Friday, who said the other candidates were “absolutely” welcome to attend when asked by former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin if there was an open invitation.”
I saw Huckster on TV and his new name will soon be Jabba The Huckster if he is not careful. The dude once ran marathons!
FACTOID: Huckster played bass at the Free Republic party at George Bush’s 2000 inauguration. I believe he was Arkansas governor back then
Meanwhile Cruz knows how to be classy towards Trump. Huck you lose when you do crap like this
I’m trying to understand the Huckster’s “I’ll go to jail” speech.
Its easy to say when there is no reason he would be arrested.
The huckster is a real POS. Some may recall what his “people” did to Nikki Haley of SC.
Get to know the POS!
