I hate to say it. Assad has a right to defend himself against the US backed terrorists that are destroying his country. jmho

FWIW, Hitler used his Condors to bomb Allied ships.

Win-win. Russia takes out ISIS and is left with the cleaning bill.

Also- if the Russians control Syria, the Saudi natural gas pipeline doesn’t get built and Gazprom retains it’s dominating position on the European energy market.

Obama isn’t going to like Russians providing Syria with weapons to fight ISIS.

That could upset his timetable for the New Caliphate.

Syria conflict involvement may have become our business partially because Syria took in huge amounts of Iraq ‘ s WMD munitions in the lead up to war in 2003.

When we see stability in Syria, our troubles might become much worse. Even nuclear exchanges become more likely, and our foes are more well equipped for launching than most people realize. Iran, for one, has conducted space launches while coordinating on engineering and tests with North Korea.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry called his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov over the weekend to express concern,

After which, Sergey and Vlad enjoyed a good laugh...

“Assad is the good guy, as was Mubarak, and Kildaffi (since he got rid of his WMD and allied with the west fighting terrorists).”

Was Saddam also, then,a good guy? They certainly shared many things as pertains to ruling.....Hey! Tito could fit in too...

I'd say for the Arab world, he was par for the course.

Exactly So

Syria under Assad poses no strategic threat whatsoever to the US
The Russians have been there for decades
I have a sad feeling this is all about oil and European bankers

However the clumsy power vacuum obama’s JV team is trying to create in Syria will be filled with people who are very dangerous to the U.S.

I am astounded to be backing Russia and hoping Putin is at least half the man he needs to be to stabilize the region

Just imagine the refugee flow when Damascus replaces Raqqa with its slave markets and wanton butchery

“Was Saddam also,then,a good guy?”

Nope, but I could have traveled safely in Iraq when he was running things. I wouldn’t dare visit an ISIS area. And don’t forget, WE created, funded, and armed isis. We did it through Benghazi via Turkey.

In the last several years we have systematically replaced every bad regime there with a nightmarish one that owes fealty to the Saudis.

Russia needs the Syrian port in friendly hands so that they have a place in the Med to resupply their Navy. Where else are they going to go in that part of the world?

For our part we tried to replace a very brutal dictator and in the meantime ended up with ISIS and a bunch of splintered rebel factions. Libya is working out great, too. Gadaffi was a nut, but he had been largely tamed. Now what do we have. No unified government and a terrorist group destabilizing the border(s) of Egypt. Don't even get me started with Yemen. That whole region is messed up thanks to community organizing.
