That is correct. And by doing so, he took their organization and their endorsement seriously, unlike the other candidates. One of the biggest mistake politicians at all levels make is not asking for someone’s vote or not seeking the endorsement from a group.
A few years back Brian Rooney was running for the Michigan 7th district seat. During the primary race he skipped our little piddly Jackson County Right to life banquet and went fundraising with Joe Schwarz, one of the biggest RINOS ever to come out of Michigan.
Big mistake. I was voting for Walberg anyway but it pretty much ended Rooney’s primary right then. Jackson county is the most solidly republican heart of the district.
That's a part of the strategy that helped Cruz win his Senate race. He believes in visiting as many people as possible, asking for their vote, and telling them to come back and hold him responsible if he ever lies to them.
He shows up when other candidates think it isn't worth their time.
