My Dad, (US Air Force Officer) got a three day pass to go to the Nuremberg trials as a spectator. He said it was really something and that Goring was probably wearing the coat that had the pill in the lining. Goring was testifying when he was there.

I would love to have heard his stories about that! I have read every reputable book that I can find about the Nuremburg trials, Speer’s autobiography (with the update), biographies about Speer and the other players in the inner circle, the books by Hitler's secretaries, etc. Germany in that era fascinates me. I read a really good one called “Frauen”, interviews with German women long after the war and their experiences. It was amazing how so many of them had it in common that they didn't know, didn't remember, etc. When the interviewer was able to pin some of them down and get them to open up and be honest, it was as if those years were the highlight of their lives and they were only angry that Germany lost, and they felt betrayed. It was a fascinating book.
