Donald Trump slammed conservative broadcaster Hugh Hewitt as a "third rate radio announcer" on Friday, one day after an interview with Hewitt exposed major gaps in Trump's foreign policy knowledge.
"It was like gotcha, gotcha," Trump said on MSNBC's Morning Joe. "Every question was do I know this one and that one? It was like he worked hard on that."
On Thursday, Hewitt asked Trump on his radio program about Quds Force commander Ghasem Soleimani. Trump responded an his oft-repeated line about how Kurds have been "mistreated."
"Oh, I'm sorry, I thought you said Kurds," he added when corrected.
But Trump quickly pivoted to slamming Hewitt for asking "gotcha questions" after the radio host suggested that the commander-in-chief should have an in-depth knowledge of players on the world stage.

My apologies. I misread you.
Yes, I have no doubt Ted is absolutely the man we need. I don’t know if you’ve watched any of his interactions with the media or—for example-—the way he recently took apart Medea Benjamin of Code Pink. She and her bunch of freaks crashed a rally he was holding, and he engaged her. By the time he was done, that rat-faced shrew had been silenced, and she was staring at him in confusion and bewilderment. He actually got her to agree with him on a point or two.
Cruz says in his book that politics as usual and the Washington cartel aren’t getting it anymore...people are sick of them and their lies. He said that we need someone who can get up there and “shatter glass.” Now he isn’t bombastic and he doesn’t yell like Trump. But he is just as effective. Cruz is a sharp rapier where Trump is, well, the wrecking ball.
Cruz has been studying the Constitution since age 14. As Solicitor General of Texas he argued case after case before the Supreme Court, fighting for the rights of Texans under the Constitution; many of those wins had far-reaching effects on other states. And he was very good at gathering support from other states when he needed it...twisting arms, when necessary.
His Senate campaign was a study in how to overcome a popular, well-known, very wealthy self-funded opposing candidate. Cruz was polling at -1, according to one estimate...no one knew who he was. But he ran a modern, grassroots “guerrilla” (his term) race that brought him a sizeable win when the pundits and political class thought he didn’t have a chance.
And, of course, he has been fighting the GOP since he became a Senator...sometimes surrounded by GOPers screaming in his face. He doesn’t give a damn...he only cares about the people who elected him.
I would sincerely recommend his book. I’m reading it now and I’m finding it quite informative; it confirms for me my decision to support him.
Ted is a pit bull...his bark isn’t as loud as some, but it’s deadly.

No need to apologize! We're on the same team overall, Team America.
I respectfully disagree on Cruz, I don't feel he a sledgehammer, that describes Trump if anyone. I see Cruz as James Madison, almost as Constitutionally expert as Alan Keyes ( who dripped the Constitution from his pores ).
My dream scenario is for Ted Cruz to be appointed Justice to the Supreme Court, because no-one in this field comes vaguely close. Being young he would cause nightmares for the leftists for generations to come. If only Trump could convince Roberts to resign and make him Chief Justice ...
