These cases are more akin to the transsexual in England who demanded an exam for cervical cancer, which the doctor refused, because the patient doesnt have, and never had, a cervix.
To me the most obvious excuse for refusing is that words mean things. What ever two men or two women may do, it is NOT marriage. Exactly right. "Religious beliefs" are not necessarily synonymous with factual biological or historical REALITIES.
The religious freedom defense means that self-evident truths are lumped right in with any - and perhaps utterly wacko and destructive - "religious beliefs". Get people accustomed to equating reality and reason with [subjective] religious dogmas, and truth is set up to be crucified at the place of the poll (consensus).
Of course, the doctor in England was ordered to perform the exam. The world is upside down.
I somehow missed that story. Yikes, shows the desperation of liars to keep their make-believe world propped up.
