Looked to me like the guard walked through a banner that was blocking the entrance. He tore the banner in two and was carrying pieces of it when he got jumped. I have no idea about the legality of the guard’s actions. Entrance is blocked by a banner, security guard tears banner to enter the building.
Just callin it how I see it. He didn’t “steal” a sign. Rather he tore through one and was carrying torn remnants of it.
Like I say, I don’t know how the law sees this and whether it would justify the following assault by the protester. If I blocked your driveway with a banner, and you drove through it, tearing it in half, do YOU get charged with theft and/or destruction of property?
If I ran you over while you were holding the sign, I'd get charged with murder.
Think of fire regulations for a public building vs obstructing the entrance. Probably more than one rule was broken
The man in the blue shirt (not tucked in) was standing behind the sign but not holding it. This man ran up to the security guard and put his arms around him from behind...and got smacked.
Next, the man at the corner of the building grabbed the man in the blue shirt and tried to keep him from re-attacking the security guard. That man (in a suit) looks like he might have been another security guard.
