I’ve been reading some Trump interviews and noticing something interesting. Trump adjusts on the fly to new situations and information. As a result people call him a flip-flopper. What he avoids is what R.W. Emerson called a needless consistency borne of stubbornness.

This also explains his business acumen and occasional losses in business as well. He takes chances, and changes his course when he sees opportunity. His instincts are very good, but no one is perfect in these matters.

He has been underestimated by all the experts. They think because he isn’t polished and doesn’t speak like a Harvard man that he’s stupid. He’s making fools of them all as he has native intelligence rather than egg-head intelligence.

Also some have pointed out past dealing with guys like Sharpton, and say it’s a negative.

I think one of his strengths is his ability to engage with his enemies, instead of being 100% adversarial. You aren’t going to get much accomplished by making too many enemies. What good is all the talk if nothing gets done, and sometimes you have to work with your opposition to get things done, Reagan understood this as much as anyone.
