I doubt it was practicing doctors behind this study. It is probably trying to expand government paid counseling.
As an amateur “psychoist” I’ve analyzed literally thousands of illegals, as well as comparable numbers of non-illegals of the same culture, education, income, etc.
The reality is that most illegals work and are more mentally healthy. A smaller percentage are alcoholics and that is not due to fear of deportation. It is due to other reasons not relevant to this discussion.
But non-illegals, especially citizens of the same income and education have far more mental problems than illegals. They are often paranoid and make themselves out to be victims of imagined boogeymen.
