One of the Clinton biographies talks about the “bucket guy” who would be on the campaign trail in the days before pocket bottles of hand sanitizer. He’d be in the limo or the bus with towels and a bucket of soap and water for after the candidate had been out pressing the flesh.
That’s exactly what all candidates do the minute they are out of sight of the crowd. Its actually probably necessary because of the chances they could get sick from someone that had a contagious disease when shaking thousands of hands a day, and when campaigning, time and the appearance of being healthy are critical. So I don’t blame them for it, even if it seems elitist.
