Because abortion incurs automatic excommunication, a regular priest confessor will go to the bishop to get this lifted before he gives absolution. That is the special circumstance for anyone under excommunication. During the Year of Mercy, this is granted to all priest confessors in the hope that more women will confess their abortion and be reconciled to God.
Thanks for the info. I believe in absolution and penance. Rush is going on about this. He doesn’t seem to get it, either. What’s not Christian about absolution???
