It's been 119 months since a major hurricane hit the continental US. The last one to hit was Wilma in Georgia.
This would have really sucked between 1941 and 1945.
Typical alarmist hyperbole.
First of all, the weather channel isn't an authority on weather phenomena. They are part of an entertainment network (NBC/Universal) and are enamored with themselves and their self-importance. The original founder of the weather channel, John Coleman, left them in disgust with the loss of scientific objectivity in lieu of political messaging. His specific grievance is them linking nearly every observation and anomaly to global climate change.
Secondly, for centuries the oceans have been uncharted and events unrecorded. Any serious recordkeeping worldwide is a mere 250 years old, and much of that is anecdotal. If the earth is billions of years old and their observation period is a mere 33 years old, then the classification of any observation by the weather channel as a "first" is sheer arrogance based on their high opinion of themselves.
Third and last, the predictions of hurricanes has been very poorly executed particularly in the past few seasons. NOAA and the weather channel have missed badly on their predictions of 1) Number of hurricane strength storms per year, 2) Predicted intensity of storms and 3) Predicted landfall in the US of major damaging storms.
Based on this stellar record alone, they should do more to truly understand on the nature of hurricanes and spend much less time prostituting themselves by proclaiming every event as a "first" or "worst ever" scenario.
Oh Noes!
What would the second smartest guy in the US do?
Bill Nye’s who hears mother erf speak directly to him, we need him!
It’s (gasp) GoreBull Warming, I tell ya!
We’re going to die. Oh, there are also some storms.
We’re all going to die. We’re.....
It looks to me more like a mentally challenged sea owl with gray eyebrows smiling, like it’s about to get cookies. Could it be that mentally challenged sea owls will soon rise and take over the world? I’m serious. Or owls with tourette’s, you ****.
Yep definitely historic being that are traditionally Hurricanes are in the Atlantic and Typhoons are in the Pacific.
Everything labeled by the “media” as being “historic” since November 2008 has been nothing but trouble and bad news for America. And I mean EVERYTHING!
I’ll bet the flight over to Hawaii was fun.
This is definitely a weird season.
I think it was seven times, hurricanes formed off the southwest coast of Mexico, pointed at the tip of Baja, and then... just sat there before dissipating. Again and again, and you would think sucking a LOT of heat out of the water.
And is this the fifth hurricane to head towards Hawaii this season? Typically they veer North, but in one case, it went due West, parallel with the equator.
The new pair seem to be back to veering North.
To: LYDIA RAMSEY
They don’t have HURRICANES in the Pacific you moron; THEY HAVE TYPHOONS.
Hey, what’s global warming and climate change supposed to be cured by electing Obama?
They used to be called typhoons. Wonder what happened?
