I got that... I never said he supported Obamacare, but single-payer is where his heart is. The shortages and long waits for health care in Canada are well known, and for Trump to express admiration for that system reflects a failure to understand or appreciate the drawbacks of government-run care.
Trump is a bit weird. Even now he’s totally unscripted. I saw him ask a woman in the crowd to muss up his hair just to prove it isn’t a toupee. She agreed that it’s his real hair.
How does that relate? He just goes off the top of his head. Certainly in the past, he didn’t think about some crafted soundbite to elucidate his policy positions as a candidate for the presidency.
So, my sense of many of his comments (even today) should be seen as he’s sometimes thinking out loud, sometimes just reacting, sometimes talking out his azz, and sometimes just playing around. I don’t think he was making policy prescriptions. For example, I can tell you how I would implement a national healthcare plan, even though it’s something I don’t believe in. I can tell you that I ‘wish’ everyone had some kind of health coverage.
All along, I really think the BEST idea is for everyone just to buy their own.
