Even the greatest flat-tax advocate favors an exemption—that by definition creates a progressive tax.
Also, this headline is misleading. Trump said he’s okay with paying taxes because he can afford it. He said he wants to see that hedge fund guys don’t pay a lower rate than average guys. He didn’t say he himself wants to pay more taxes.
Raise taxes on dividends?
Le Fail E’pic.
A progressive tax code is redistribution of wealth. It’s not a principle of conservatism.
K street and the Federal Reserve are all about wealth redistribution. Bother you at all?
I love this mindset.
How is lobbying about wealth redistribution?
Lobbyists represent the people. The NRA is a lobby. Pro-Life groups have lobbyists. Flat tax advocates have lobbyists.
Lobbyists are a way for the people to organize and centralize their voice on an issue. There is nothing wrong or sinister about that.
It was corrupt politicians who accepted lobbyist money for advantages in business, rules to hold back competitors and tax loopholes for certain groups. Those are also unconstitutional actions.
But, since nobody cares about the constitution, we see all lobbyists as the same and paint with a broad brush.
Personally, I want my voice heard in DC. I like lobbyists.
