State Unis are there to help the given State in any numbrr of ways.
Can’t do that if the Gubmit is loaning, giving money out. Teachers may be unrealistic but not stupid. “Get me some MORE taxpayer money each year!!!”
Because Lord knows the last thing you want are the universities out there helping the public.......Because Lord knows the last thing that could happen are the universities out there helping the public. There, fixed it.
How many ethnomusicologists does a unviersity really need?
Walker does have enemies in all the right places. He pisses off all the right people.
These people think that grant money magically appears out of nowhere and that attracting more grants is always a good thing. They completely ignore the fact the money comes from taxpayers, and that irresponsible use of grant money on meaningless projects should be a crime.
You, of course, are absolutely correct....Universities have become bloated socialist garbage pits....most sit on enormous amounts of endowment dollars while charging totally asinine tuition amounts....that, of course, is because the government is willing to "loan" little Billy or Susie ludicrous amounts of money to get a ged which teaches them nothing but gives them them a meaningless piece of paper which the system says is necessary to get a good job....The students are as dumb as a box of rocks, have no employment skills, no immediate job opportunities, are unqualified to be anything but a student and owe the government $100,000 dollars.....PATHETIC.
A college is for education. Colleges are within a university, but a university is more than a college and education. A university is for both education and public services.
Is this article supposed to make me want to lobby for continued tenure? LOL! In this case it failed miserably!
I know a Wisconsin alum who says our local community college has better instructors and teaches more effectively.
Sounds to me like running off their tenured faculty might not be a bad thing.
Recruitment is suffering - what they denied some black high school football star from entering UW Madison for the reasons that his GPA was not good enough to get into UW Madison. UW Madison and UW Milwaukee are the two largest university campuses in Wisconsin - from Milwuakee and Madison outward there are approximately 11 more 4 year degree granting universities and 13 more state universiies that operate for students to get the basics in before going to a bigger university., There are University Extensions in other counties whereby there is no university. Wisconsin truly needs to consider eliminate some of its university sites, 13 4 year 13, considered 2 year plus there are also the numerous community colleges throughout Wisconsin - something has to change it is not like money grows on trees.
Neither has anyone in the private sector, but I'll bet you have a nice pension (that you only just started contributing to - thanks Act 10) and a cadilac health plan.
“But for years, the population of yellow perch has been in serious decline. Now on the verge of collapse, the future of this iconic fish is looking grim.”
This has to do with the introduction of zebra and quagga mussels, which eat the plankton juvenile yellow perch eat. Yellow perch are also sensitive to pollution, especially agricultural runoff.
There. Can I have his job?
Half of a half-million is a quarter-million.
That should be adequate to fund a rather comfortable compensation package for the esteemed professor.
Ilove that picture. Might make it my wallpaper.
Its what counts as “the wrong thing” that worries me.
Pardon me if I stepped into the middle of a conversation, but I'm not sure I know where you're going with this.
