Look at the photo. Please. Tell me what you see that is so upsetting
Why aren’t the people who are actually there upset? To me they seem amused or bored.
OK . If fear is the wrong word give me the right one. Certainly it is an emotionally charged reaction. You must agree with that.
The little girls look amused to me which is of course a natural reaction....it's probably the first time they have ever seen a "thingy" so they are naturally curious.
The point is, would you want your little 5-6 year old girl to see a "thingy" against your will?
This is being forced on people and it is wrong!
Wait a minute -- you're the one with the minority view here, the liberal view. This is a Free Republic forum and your view is not the predominant one. I can't teach you values, but I grew up with Christian values (as did most FReepers), so I will ask YOU some questions:
Since when is it okay for children to be exposed to full frontal nudity in a public place (such as Times Square) where there is an expectation of safety for families?
If what took place in the photo is okay, then what isn't okay, by your estimation -- where do you 'draw the line'? What if he points toward his genitals as he sees them make eye contact? What if he asks them what it is they like about what they see? etc, etc.
Why arent the people who are actually there upset? To me they seem amused or bored.
You don't know what they are thinking, and I don't either, but I would say this was unexpected. After all Guliani cleaned up Times Square and drastically lowered crime. People have the expectation that Times Square is family-safe. Mere yards from there are people dressed as cartoon characters in the hopes that families will want to get their pictures taken with them, for a tip. Aside from that people have different reactions to shock or surprise, including smiles or indifferent looks.

I agree I am passionate about protecting children, even if they're not mine. And about promoting good and opposing evil.
