GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump will speak to the Upstate Chamber Coalition's Presidential Series on Thursday at noon.
The event is sold out with about 1,400 people preregistered and about 100 media personnel expected.
This will be Trump's first trip to the Upstate since announcing he will run for president.
A recent Monmouth University poll shows Trump has 30 percent of South Carolina Republicans support. In second place, retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson with 15 percent. South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham has 4 percent.
Political analyst Chip Felkel said so far, Trump has been given a 'pass' by voters but will have to provide more substantive facts soon.
"Hes getting a pass. I think the pass is being given because people are really frustrated that they elected this group or that group and they didnt get what they thought they were going to get. It might work for him. Well see," Felkel said. "It's more than just a novelty. It's not going to fall flat on its face. Theres something real there. But how far that goes in the end, the jury is still out. "

“Given a pass”? It’s amazing how many reasons (excuses) the media and pundits try to find to explain his success so far. I’m still on the fence but I don’t believe voters have given him a pass.
There own senator is sitting at just 4%. They must really not like Linda very much in South Carolina.
My “fence” is based on my belief that he is running for his own sake, not the country’s.
That’s a high fence to overcome.

The Greenville Chamber website said registration to the event was closed due to maximum capacity.

They should have known that he would need a larger facility. I mean, 35,000 turned out in Mobile, AL. Imagine how many would have turned out had they held this event in a football stadium.
Provide substantive facts? About what ... and why? His followers know the facts about his past policy stances and they're undeterred. He's too awesome to delve into wonkish details.
Yeah, he is sure “beating his brains out” at 4% vs Trumps 30%.
At this point, what with the thrashing he is giving the enemedia, who cares why he is doing it? This ain’t the time for why. Plenty of that later. Meantime, keep the fire coming!

A political campaign veteran, Chip Felkel began his career with Campbell for Governor (1986) and later served in management roles with the 1988 Bush-Quayle campaign, with Jim DeMints 2002 Congressional re-elect, and in strategic and communications roles with Bush-Cheney 2000 and 2004.
Chicken dinner for 1,400?
I’m sick of these articles that say he has to give more substance. When did obama say anything of substance except hope and change, and yes we can. Which of the other 16 candidates have laid out their plans - other than a few here and there? Yet, it is Trump who must give all the substance, so the media can tear them apart before the election.
I agree, he should just provide the kind of detail Obama did and say "hope and change".
I think anyone running for President has his own ego at the front. BUT, and I repeat, BUT, The Donald has a record of ACCOMPLISHMENT, NOT GUM'T SERVICE!
Sure, he had a head start with Daddy's money, but he is a good steward and has increased that nest egg ten-fold!
I am inclined to go for him over anybody else on the slate. He is a businessman. We don't need more stinking' politicians. WE need a problem solver!
Fedrool debt, Illegal invaders, Muzzies at the front door, and JOBS, Jobs, Jobs... !
Which of the other 16 candidates have laid out their plans - other than a few here and there?
There ... now it's easier for his researchers to glean a couple of MORE good talking points from his REAL advisory cabinet
Everyone is. The gamble may not be so bad as with another “politician”. He’d have one term to prove it. And nothing could be as bad as soebarkha.
Imagine if you paid this guy to do anything for you! You would fire him immediately for gross stupidity!
No doubt it takes ego to run for higher office—especially the Presidency.
I’m not naive enough to believe in the “selfless public servant”. I leave that level of willful ignorance to the democrats.
I’m not convinced this country is on an unavoidable downward slide, and I agree we need a problem solver, but our country’s problems cannot be solved by one man. It originates from a cultural decline; which I perceive The Donald as a symptom of, and not a solution for.
He speaks at noon. People started getting in line at 8a. It is August 2015.
