LOS ANGELES, CA, August 25, 2015 (LifeSiteNews) – The GOP's leading presidential candidate said that he has been to a gay "wedding" and that conservatives should accept the Supreme Court's redefinition of marriage.
In a wide-ranging interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Donald Trump was asked whether the issue of marriage's redefinition is "a dead issue for the GOP at this point."
"Some people have hopes of passing amendments [to the U.S. Constitution]," said Trump, "but it's not going to happen. Congress can't pass simple things, let alone that. So anybody that's making that an issue is doing it for political reasons. The Supreme Court ruled on it."
In June, Trump told CNN's Jake Tapper that he had evolved on the issue of marriage, and supports "traditional marriage." At the time, he was pressed by Tapper on whether Trump's three marriages undermined his position.
"They have a very good point," said Trump. "I have a great marriage. I have a great wife now. And I – my two wives were very good. And I don't blame them. But I was working, maybe like you, 22 hours a day."
"I blame myself because my business was so powerful for me. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing," he said.
Trump told the Reporter that he had been to the gay "wedding" of Broadway theater owner Jordan Roth.
How would you know if I’m in menopause or not, little buddy? You fixate on that kind of thing?
So how do you feel about abortion?
You just have that kind of aura about you, like the hot flashes are hitting you hard and you have to lash out about it. I could be wrong. But when you insult people, prepare to be insulted back.
Abortion? I’m personally against it.
Little fella, I don't need PMS or menopause or any other hormonal event to be a total b*tch with ankle-biters like you. You'll get exactly what you ask for, so stop whining.
But your choice of words is interesting.
There's a particular anti-Freeper site that tries to paint Freeper women as dried up and old. I've seen them make comments just like yours.
Yep. Food for thought.
"Personally" against it? Why the qualifier? Not sure what you mean.
You do a lot of trolling do you? Interesting. And no whining from me. Like Trump, I like to bitch slap fools from time to time.
“Like Trump”
That’s cute. You try to emulate your hero in everyday life.
Go b*tch slap your mama.
I mean I’m against it. Try to keep up.
Go emulate your hero. By that I mean be boring, kiss Trump’s ass, give Iran the nuke, and drop to seventh place.
Oh, and cook some bacon on a machine-gun.
No you are busted for cherry picking.
Because you CAPITALIZE on abortion you negate any other positives about the Judge. I disagree with her on abortion but why can’t you be honest about her other stands on issues. OH yeh I forgot you are trying to deep six her brother through any means possible.
This makes you less than credible. If you had listed Judge Barry’s whole history including the abortion stance you might have done yourself more good. But you didn’t. :-)
Let me repeat, because it isn’t getting through to you.
I don’t care what her other stances are. If she is a supporter of baby murder, nothing else matters.
Like your fellow fangirl Ann Coulter, I guess you think abortion doesn’t matter until the border is closed.
If my hardline stance on driving scissors into the skulls of babies makes me “less credible” with you, then I know I’m doing something right, because you’re nothing but a leftist defender of baby killers.
Here’s what you need to understand Maryanne Barry is not running for President. Her brother Donald Trump is running for President. What Maryanne Barry thinks, says or does has nothing to do with Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.
Donald Trump says he’s agains’t abortion. I believe him. It doesn’t matter anyway as the President of the United States has no say so in reversing Roe v Wade. Only the SCOTUS or the Congress can make changes and none of them are doing anything. Be mad at them. Not Maryanne Barry or Donald Trump.
You need to understand that you are in the minority on this issue. You are not in the wrong but you are in the minority which means that what you want is not going to happen anytime soon. Stop blaming the wrong people.
The president is the one who appoints SCOTUS justices.
This is one of the most dangerous areas with electing an “evolved” conservative like Trump. He doesn’t understand conservatism enough to sniff it out in a justice. And if he really doesn’t care about abortion, he has cover to appoint a pro-choice justice because he can always claim he assumed she would rule as a pro-lifer.
Think so, huh?
Normally, I would agree with you - none of us should be held responsible for what our family members say or do. But when Trump says that a supporter of partial-birth abortion would make a "phenomenal" Supreme Court justice (a role that would enable her to make her position on the matter the "law of the land"), then it raises legitimate concerns and doubts about the kind of judges Trump would appoint. And judicial appointments are some of the most consequential and long-lasting acts that a president undertakes.
You couldn't possibly be more wrong.
I don't care who you support in this race, don't pretend that the President doesn't have a role in abortion. For starters there's the Mexico City Policy, and more importantly are judicial appointments (the next president could easily get three, possibly more).
Roe v. Wade OUTLAWS abortion for persons. All we need is for Congress to pass a law recognizing personhood of the murder victims and the President to sign it. That will END abortion FOREVER in this country.
You're worried about illegal immigrants and I get that and the illegals that are here are as a DIRECT RESULT of abortion. You see, when you murder an entire generation of workers, people will come from other countries to take the jobs. ALL of America's domestic problems stem from the artificial manipulation of population growth fostered by the abortion culture.
you make a good point...and it’s amazing the lengths some will go to excuse, obfuscate, ignore big red warning flags.
Trump could never get the vote of a real principled conservative
Trump can turn on any issue and I see his supporters saying it doesn’t matter.
No principles at all.
Have you noticed yet that no one gives a chit? :-)
“Think so, huh?”
No I don’t think so I know so. The reason Congress has made no move to overturn Roe v Wade and there has not been another test case sent to the SCOTUS is that most people in the US really don’t want abortion banned. They just don’t like late term abortion.
I know that’s hard for you to understand but the outrage just is not there.
I hate to tell you that likely the same thing will happen with gay marriage. People just are not outraged enough to fight it. They don’t like it but they will tolerate it.
Donald Trump is not going to be able to get rid of Roe v Wade anymore than Bush 41 and 43 were able to.
But hey you can still vent your outrage on FR about both issues and it will help you feel better like you are maybe having some effect on things.
Meanwhile Trump is concentrating on getting the illegals out and creating some jobs which is something he actually can make happen if he gets elected.
Trump supporters are like Obama supporters
They want “change” and they don’t care about the details
