Cruz dodged the question. She knocked him back a bit. Fair or not fair, he could have answered more clearly. She didn’t ask him about his personal life, she posed an hypothetical about a very real issue.

Yes she was snarky. But he looked like he took a jab to the chin.

I’d vote for him in a heartbeat. I just wish he’d answered more directly one way or the other.

It was a “gotcha” question to stir up contrived controversy between Cruz and Trump. If she truly wanted to know his stance on deporting illegals, then ask him! Don’t bring up what Billy O asked Trump! Or, what Trump said! Cruz knew exactly what she was doing. He even said she was acting like the liberal media and Obammy. Good for him for not playing her inane game.

AFAIK, Cruz has never called for the deportation of every illegal immigrant. He has called for banning any pathway to citizenship for them. This recent article says as much.

http://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2015/08/ted_cruz_vs_donald_trump_whos_stronger_on_immigration.html

As he said to Kelly, he’s said previously that they’ll have a conversation about what to do with the illegals here after securing the border.

As far as I’m concerned, that’s no different than Trump’s position in the end, because Trump says he wants to bring back in the good ones. Trump has not said they could never become citizens after returning. So in that way, Cruz might be more conservative than Trump. I don’t really care if the illegals leave and come back vs. just stay if they’re going to get legal status in the end. Neither Trump nor Cruz is making it clear what the end picture looks like of how many current illegals will become legal.

Cruz said he would pursue all/both options including the 14th amendment. He basically told her it was not the issue that needed to be addressed. If you want
to call that a dodge and be disappointed in him, that is your right. I think that kind of attitude based off his answer to one question is bereft of
intellectual rigor and unlike what I am used to on this site. Good to see the political debate is stirring the wind, lets just not wet our finger and place it into the air for each and every Q&A each candidate engages in. Can you seriously say that you supported Cruz before an now do not?
