Ted Cruz was asked tonight the same question BillO asked Trump last night, if he would deport two illegal parents who have children that are American Citizens. But Cruz refused to answer it the way Megyn Kelly wanted him to. She accused him of dodging the question, but Cruz responded that the question that she and other mainstream media journalists want to ask is a distraction from actually fixing the problem of illegal immigration and then explained how to fix it.
It was awesome.
Watch:
Disagree. If Trump backtracks on the wall, H1-B visas or deporting illegal alien felons, he won't have a chance. The Folks will see it as an unforgivable betrayal.
And btw, Jeb Bush is already sounding like a centrist Democrat. I would hate to see what left of THAT gets us. you need to start getting that this Dem-Rep paradigm is killing us. We all rallied to capture the Senate, and then the ones we funded, went door-to-door for, and voted in droves to elect simply handed the keys to Obama and Reid. Even so-called conservatives like Jodi Ernst and Ted Cruz betrayed us on key votes.
No disagreement on the primary intent, but it says what it says. If they had had today's problems it would almost certainly say something different.
Thanks for the OANN info :)
I wouldn't go that far, but Cruz did seem to prevaricate rather than answer Kelly's question about the practical effect of revoking birth right citizenship in a straightforward manner.
He seems to have reversed his position on the constitutional issue as well.
Mistake for Conservatives to Try to End Birthright Citizenship
Ted never reversed his position. He just made a list of priorities.
The video you linked to was taken out of context in that new statutes that bar birthright citizenship would be weak before the SCOTUS. That is correct. SCOTUS won’t be bowed by arguments, they will be bowed by politics.
Ted clarifies it here (time 1:05):

Ted supports amending the US Constitution but feels it will take too long. He says making the border secure should be priority one. He’s absolutely right.
Not only hasn't he walked it back, on July 7 he doubled down:
Cruz: Proud to Defend Trump, Expand H-1B Visas For Educated, Talented Job Creators - http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3309118/posts
Right.
I very much appreciate your assessment and the research information on FOX. I knew none of that. Thank you for the reply! Rita
Hey, thanks.

Not just a troll but now a clown.
You’ve expanded yourself.
Congratulations Mr. No-info unqualified voter.

Irrelevant. The answer to the basic question is simple: Deport the illegal parents and the minor anchor babies go with them. We will not separate families. If minor children have some legal relative in the US, the might be allowed to stay. Otherwise, minor children stay with the parents.
All those rare cases you throw out do not change the fundamental policy that would cover 98% or more of cases. Such cases would be reviewed individually.
Look, everyone agrees with should secure the border and in that were in agreement, lets do that first. After thats done, we can discuss the rest.
Cruz doesn't think the USA can walk and chew chewing gum at the same time? Build the wall and begin law enforcement concurrently. Actually, the enforcement can begin the first day we have a president who will enforce the law. The wall would require some funding, and maybe legislation depending whether the Secure Fence Act of 2006 is still in effect except for funding.
That’s a very informative thread.

The children are Americans— now, Will88 will deport American citizens?
Please tell me what percentage of the American electorate do you believe will support your position? Give me a number, I’m curious?
We deport illegal alien parents. If the parents leave their anchor babies in the US, then that's the parents decision to separate their families.
Let it sink into your thick head. We are not required by law to allow illegal aliens to remain in the US because they have an anchor baby. The parents are responsible for their children. Take them with them to their home country, or make other arrangements.
The parents created the situation for their anchor babies, not the US government or its citizens.
You sure like to use emotional, leftist tactics,
So, you’ve changed your position. Now the children can stay, right?? So, what now— they have to become wards of the state for the next 18 years????
Learn to read with comprehension Vin...the children are the parents concern not the US government’s.
Ms. Kelly didn’t take a long enough vacation. She should be ashamed of herself for not knowing the difference between covering a story (that Trump was killing the numbers at the GOP start) with covering herself! Ailes thinks she is the best ever. She is....just ask her!!!
Haven't changed anything. You're really making yourself look bad. My first suggestion of how the question could be answered, from my #231.

If everyone is as weak as you, and possibly even Cruz, on this issue, then we'll never have the will to enforce immigration law. The people who've come here illegally created their own circumstances. They made their own bed.
So, if the parents leave their kids in America, the kids can stay with full rights and benefits of any other American citizen? That’s your position, right?
Enough of your silly games and inconsistencies. Anyone can spin one scenario after another, but you've been unsuccessful in trying to spin away from the basic situation that exists with illegal aliens.
Refresh your memory, or maybe you missed this famous case.
The woman who became the unofficial face of the millions of illegal immigrants striving to remain in the United States has been deported to her native Mexico almost a year to the day after she took refuge in a church in Chicago.
She is said to have asked the arresting officers to give her some time with her son to calm him down before she was taken away. While his mother was sent overnight to Tijuana in Mexico, Saul remains in Chicago under the guardianship of members of the Adalberto United Methodist church where the two had been living over the past year.
Mexican mother who hid in Chicago church deported
Yes, we can deport an illegal mother and her anchor baby. Saul Arellano was able to stay in the US with a legal guardian. There has just been very little immigration law enforcement.
Stop wasting your time and everyone else's who might still be reading.
