You might as well include me, since I don’t see much to disagree with. Sure, Bush talked the talk on life issues, in the feeble, half-assed way we expect from our favorite Republicans who secretly sell us out, but wasn’t the Bush presidency mostly an execution of a liberal agenda?
Messianic “democracy” exported abroad at gunpoint? Check.
Big Government, with insanely out-of-control spending and a truly terrifying advance for the all-powerful police state? Check.
Standard pieties about the wonderfulness of “diversity” and our favorite “religion of peace”? Check.
As far as I’m concerned, Dubya was a disaster for the Constitution and a dream come true for any and all on the government teat. The fact that any “conservative” could still back him just goes to show how lost, corrupted, and stupid our politics have become since the days of Reagan, when movement conservatism still existed.
From everything I’ve heard, GWB is a fine man personally. He is decent and a gentleman, considerate, conscientious, and not greedy. I’ll give him that. As a president, he chose to overlook the criminality of the Clinton administration he succeeded, and then after 9/11, to be bullied and suckered by the neocon mafia, with catastrophic consequences for this country and for Christianity in the Middle East, which I will not soon forget.
