Obama started including those apprehended at the border and turned back. Previously only those caught well inside the interior were counted as “deported”. Regardless, some real numbers. Operation Wetback lasted short of a year and resulted in 2.1M Illegals being repatriated. More than half that number self-deported. So using your 11 M, we’d have this mopped up during President Trumps first year of his second term.

We "conservatives" put in a GOP House. Nothing changed. We put in a GOP House and Senate. Nothing changed. With them, as Steyn noted, it's always an excuse. What people ARE getting with Trump is a man of action. We might not agree with every action he would take, but we darn sure would not hear excuses for why things "can't get done." I think the Wall is the clearest, most symbolic of all these actions. For 10 years we haven't built a damn wall. How tough is this really? It's funded.

While you are right that the 2010 and 2014 mid-terms were massive rejections of liberals and liberalism, the coming election will be a massive rejection of words and sentiments and ideology over actually accomplishing something.

Roughly 500-700,000 illegals left on their own.

The INS did the job with only 1,075 agents, supported by local law enforcement.

In 1954 over 1,000,000 illegals were apprehended and deported or self deported in the state of Texas alone.
