That is one powerful book - Raspail is a prophet, and an awesome writer. His metaphors and similes are a delicious assault on the imagination.
It’s a must read in this day and age filled with intellectual dishonesty and self loathing on the part of the West.
I read it when it first came out in English in the late 70’s. Thought it was too fantastic. Little did I know.
Your pic in #1 depicts exactly what is happening all along our Southern border with mexico. It’s the Alamo. Everyday and night it’s the Alamo with illegals storming across our border. And to boot, we have our muslim Pres. and democrats who continue with their insane catch and release programs and in addition allowing sanctuary cities to harbor the illegals.
Bush II started this crap; Obama was just too happy to continue it. Both should be tried as war criminals for the fiasco in Iraq.
It is like a zombie apocalypse, as they overrun the last holdouts; instead of brains they want nanny-state benefits...
Back in 2003 I was down in the Patrida at Methoni. One evening I had coffee with a friend who owns a small hotel there and the guy who owned the one next door. Iraq was a hot topic. Both the Greeks predicted exactly this situation as a result of Bush and his neo-con buddies and their war. But of course, who in our government would listen to anyone who lived in the region. What would they know? In any event, this crowd will just love it in Germany and it having them there couldn’t happen to a nicer country!
The critical error was not porous borders but the idea of a regime change in Iraq and Syria. Now we are facing the consequences.
A display of cruelty at this point will only serve to radicalize the Muslims who are already in the West, and would punish the wrong people.
I think, the one we've got is big enough.
I'd add Bush to the list, although Obama certainly made things worse than they needed to be.
