Megyn Kelly too is nothing special. Her replacement is wonderful.

I pulled the plug on cable over a year ago. Who is replacing Megyn?

“Didn’t Trump have a graduated plan where everyone paid something, but the percentages jumped up with income?”

Yes; he still does. At least that’s what he said this morning on Fox. I don’t like that. Flat tax; everybody pays something — an equal percentage.

See post 40.

There’s a padded rocking chair waiting for Perry in Haskell, but he refuses to acquiesce.

$100,000 is peanuts money. It is middle class money.

My ultra rich means yearly income of over $1,000,000.
And net worth in excess of $25,000,000.

How does your exposition of your personal wealth standard advance this discussion of the gift of compound interest to the rich? I’m stumped.

Do not get me wrong. I would prefer 0.0% income tax. And a consumption tax to pay military and minimum necessary government.

But we have that humongous debt hanging like sword of Damocles on our heads. Middle class is tapped out. Lower class has no money. Someone has to pay the piper. Only the super rich can pay higher taxes without real pain. It is the most conservative fiscal solution.

The caveat is, the higher tax on super rich must have a sunset clause. It must not give professional politicians money for ever to waste.

“The ultra rich should pay more, not as a punishment, but to help the middle class.”

I don’t agree. There are better ways for the ultra rich to help the middle class than throwing money at the government to dole if out. Two ways, off the top of my head:

1. Do what they do now, i.e., create jobs for the middle and lower income classes so they can rise to a higher “class”.

2. Be an example of what possibilities exist for everyone if they work hard, make good choices in life, stay motivated, etc.

Why should those who’ve made great sacrifices in life, work 16 hours a day, and achieved wealth hand it out to people who prefer to work their eight hours and then plop on the sofa and watch TV ‘til bedtime? It’s OK if they want to live lives as couch potatoes, but it’s their choice. Successful people shouldn’t pay the penalty for other people’s choices.

I mean, in short, he’s no Obama, who has given us transparency and specifics.

I wouldn't call Trump a Marxist like Obama. I'd call him more a liberal crony capitalist like his friend and receiver of his financial support, Hillary Clinton.

Neither do I. I didn't say that. FReeper entropy12 said that.

No one can create many jobs until the debt situation is under control. That national debt is not just a piece of paper. We, the tax payers pay interest every year on that debt. It is an anchor on the economy.

That money which goes to pay interest every year, should eventually go to small businesses in form of tax cuts. That method is impossible right now, because we are running very large deficits every year. Borrowing more from foreign countries to give tax cuts will make the situation worse.

Just examine how Greece got into the mess they are in. It did not happen suddenly. It was a gradual process over several years of more borrowing and more spending.
