Trump: Walker's state 'is really in trouble'
The Hill ^ | August 23, 2015 | Mark Hensch

Posted on 08/23/2015 7:48:23 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Real estate mogul Donald Trump said on Sunday he is not intimidated by Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, given his fellow GOP presidential candidate’s handling of the Badger State.

“Well, I’m not worried because his state is really in trouble,” Trump told host George Stephanopoulos on ABC’s “This Week.”

“I mean, it’s a fantastic place,” he said. “I love the people of Wisconsin, but if you look at what’s going on, they have a $2.2 billion deficit. They were supposed to have a surplus of $1 billion and they have $2.2 billion.”

“There’s tremendous divisions throughout the state,” Trump added. “He stopped a lot of work because he didn’t want to raise taxes. So instead of raising taxes, he’s borrowing to the hilt and his state is overleveraged.”

Trump then argued Walker’s handling of Wisconsin is proof he would fare no better managing the U.S.

“His state has not performed well,” he said. “We need someone who’s going to make it perform well, this country perform well.”

“I’m the one to do it,” the outspoken billionaire added. “And people are seeing it and it is being reflected in the polls.”

Trump’s remarks come as he leads the race for the 2016 GOP presidential nomination across multiple national samplings.

He additionally mocked Walker on Sunday for trying to emulate his positions.

“Scott Walker has changed his mind now, because he keeps going to his pollster, and his pollster says, ‘Oh, Trump has a good idea, Trump has a bad idea, oh no, wait a minute, Trump has a good idea,’ ” Trump said.

“These people don’t know what they’re doing, George,” Trump told Stephanopoulos. “They’re politicians.”

Is walker still running?

I was thinking the same. Haven’t heard much from him lately. Maybe he should do a swing through the South and hold some rallies like Cruz & Trump are doing.

Again I live in Wisconsin and have voted for Walker three times.

My taxes are massively lower, the powerful unions that ran the State have been busted and we have common sense new laws like Voter ID that Walker had to battle for four years in the liberal court system to get approved.

Love Trump, but he sounds like Omarosa as he keeps repeating this nonsense.

You should know by now Trump is immune to being criticized for using liberal talking points.

Just look at his speech in Alabama on Friday. He was trashing the insurance companies as bad as any leftist Democrat.

A GOPe or RINO type pointing out this flaw with Trump is not going to have any effect. It’s gotta be Walker to fire directly back at this and to call it out for what it is: a lie and liberal talking point. Absent that, Trump’s just going to continue to get away with it.

“I don’t like this. He would do better to give credit where credit is due.”

McCain tried that in 2008 by saying that “Obama would be a fine president”, or something close. See where that got him.

Examples? He’s run Wisconsin as well as any governor in the country in the past quarter century.

I’d say his part on Walker flip flopping to match his position is accurate. Walker changed sides 3 times about birthright citizenship within a week. Walker just does whatever his masters tell him to do.

This is why I'm not sure that Trump is the best diplomat for the most important office on earth. Walker is already starting to slowly fade away, and Trump is wasting time on unneeded attacks. Giving Walker the attention and opportunity to find a comeback is simply foolish. Trump knows how to defeat economic opponents, and how to deal deal with the attack dog media, but he does not know how to be a diplomat. We don't actually need a President who is in attack-and-defend mode 24-7. Many things take tact, a delicate hand, and a patient and measured response. I'm not sure that Trump has that in his toolbox.

(Yes, he is by far the most eager and willing candidate to "get things done", and there is a LOT to be undone after the Marxist Mullah leaves office... and with a weak Congress, he is the most likely to succeed at making fast and huge changes... and hopefully they will be the changes that we want and need... but that is not what our Founders wanted, nor what they built. "Things" were supposed to get done slowly, with great deliberation, and without knee-jerk emotionalism.)

He said "where credit is due". There is no credit due Obama, never was.

Wasn't there an article on here a few weeks ago that said something about Walker was suppost to have his State in the black but people found out that was a lie and they are actually in the red?

And those same Freepers will be backing gun control, supporting Hillary, and deciding single payer is a neato idea

What I don’t understand is why Scott Walker or one of his PACs hasn’t made a concise commercial that counters this charge with the FACTS. Why doesn’t Scott Walker just say every time he has a chance, “Wisconsin has a $1B surplus! It doesn’t have a $2.2B deficit! Wisconsin’s roads and schools are great!”?

Agreed. Trump is likely to cement in place Commander Xero's disrespect for the Constitutional separation of powers.

I like Walker. I donated to him back when. But Walker needs to stay where he is for now.

Hey, don’t forget - let’s use those increased taxes to fund Planned Parenthood for all of the good they do for “the women”.

“Walker is already starting to slowly fade away ...” as is Perry, Christy, Fiorina, and others. This is Trump’s function - pound, lie and so on about the other candidates until he get’s the nomination, then lose in the general. The Hillary fix may be in.

Yes there have been posts like that but they were false. Your recalling them shows the power of false headlines, which is why liberal control of the media is so damaging to us all. Wisconsin bond ratings have gone up under Walker and our existing debt was reduced.

*****When Walker took office in 2011, the GAAP deficit was at $2.9 billion, but that number has shrunk to $1.3 billion at the end of fiscal year 2014 (FY14), according to the latest Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CARF) published by the Department of Administration.

http://www.maciverinstitute.com/2014/12/wisconsins-gaap-deficit-shrinks-by-16-billion-in-past-three-fiscal-years/

Wisconsin has a Constitutional requirement to have a balanced budget.
