A record 200,000 Minnesotans now have permits to carry handguns, an increasingly diverse group that includes two men who recently made split-second, life-altering decisions to fire their weapons.
In 2003, the year Minnesota passed its permit-to-carry law, 15,000 five-year permits were issued. The number issued annually then decreased for several years. But by 2014, 184,985 Minnesotans held permits. Today, one in 20 Minnesotans has a permit, 19 percent of them women.
Opponents had feared that the law would lead to a surge in shootings and gun deaths. But Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension data show that fatalities involving permit holders are rare. In the past five years, there have been five deadly or nonlethal instances of justifiable use of a firearm by permit holders.
From 2013 to 2014, gun crimes reported to the BCA involving permit owners dropped in half. While the numbers may not tell the full story law enforcement cant track all gun owners who flash weapons only if needed for self-defense gun rights advocates say theyre telling.

Meanwhile, three people were stabbed in the parking lot of a bar last night, not 5 minutes from where I’m sitting.

Fixed. You can thank me later.
Sliver would be the operative word. They tried to make us all evil here, but it didn’t work out for them.
MN is interesting, lots of liberals, lots of guns, Al Franken, and Jesse Ventura.
Marx Dayton...
Shouldn’t that read, “Death altering decisions”, as in ‘cheating near certain death by defensive use of a firearm’?
Chanen is a closet bed-wetter.
I’ve got to remember to get my CCL.
By the way, does anyone know the law concerning carrying a pistol and a squirrel rifle in an auto from Texas to Oklahoma?
I wish they’d honor our Iowa permits.
Until constitutional carry is the law of the land...

If you have a TX CHL, no problem with your sidearm. OK & many other States
honor Tx CHLs.
Long guns should be no problem. No doubt, hundreds of rifles & shotguns cross the OK/TX border every day without interest by either State.
I expect you'd be wise to have a Hunting License for both States, though, if you're going hunting and expect to transport game back home...
Minnesota no longer honors TX CHL’s.
Fine. Despite having relatives there, I'll stay clear of libMN...
BTW, do you know why MN pulled back their reciprocity?
Texas now allows those 19 and over with military service to have CHL. This versus MN law stating 21 and over. Thus according to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, reciprocity is no longer recognized. Source: Texas Law Shield e-mail bulletin.
I lived in Minnestoopid for ten years. Hated the place. They do hate Texans.
The left is for arming criminals only.
If your guns are unloaded and locked in the trunk, you can travel just about anywhere in the US with no problem. If your vehicle doesn’t have a trunk, invest in an airline approved lockable gun case.
