As normal, there was some fog of war here. Spencer Stone, an air force service man (there were no Marines, the other soldier was national guard) was cut on his thumb and neck with the thumb the more severe. He got there first so had to grapple with perp's knife hand. French press report he was taken for specialized hand care so may have had cut tendons, etc. needing repair. Not life threatening, but significantly disabling if not successfully repaired. The two soldiers were childhood friends, vacationing together with another friend, a college student aiming for physical therapy. The story of them reacting to hearing the "AK" chambering now also seems doubtful.

An interview with the latter two, and a Brit who apparently assisted after the takedown is up on YouTube. The Brit said Stone's thumb was nearly cut off, yet Stone applied pressure to a heavily bleeding neck wound on a shot passenger until paramedics arrived. French press reports the shot (by a handgun, the "AK" wasn't fired) passenger had dual French and American citizenship, was about 50, lived and, I think taught, in France, and had actually been shot in the lower back, through the lung and exiting above the left collar bone.

As an aside I note the 'diversity' of the friends and especially note how it so far seems to have been taken for granted. I haven't seen photos of Stone, but his national guard buddy is white, while their college buddy is black. Perfectly normal in spite of the anti-hero left pushing the meme that blacks and whites can't get along.
