He isn't a real conservative, either.
You are misinterpreting their comments. I said this in another post some time ago - Trump is giving Ds permission to vote R without them having to explain and get vilified by their lib friends. So, they say he isn’t a real Republican - see how that works? It makes perfect sense to me because I know people who are also giving themselves permission to vote for him - and they are lifelong DEMs.
And we can be thankful for that, because "real Republicans" like McCain and Romney are why we have Obama. Jeb was supposed to be the next "real Republican" that would give us Hillary.
What Trump is is a "real American", something that hasn't been seen on the presidential political scene for a generation. He's brash, confident, and unapologetic about his belief in America and in the American dream. He's also the sort of "rich guy" that Americans have always admired--someone who builds things that people want and reaps the rewards of doing so. As such, he's the embodiment of the American dream that he's selling, which is why the message is so effective and cuts across the artificial divides that others have tried to erect across the country.
He has both the pulse of the country and the smarts to know how to leverage that to his advantage. What nobody seems to have noticed is that he's already running a general election campaign while others are still in pre-primary season.
