Mobile, Alabama (CNN)Donald Trump brought 30,000 supporters from deep red Alabama to a Friday night pep rally in a football stadium, the latest sign that the Republican front-runner has broad, nationwide strength.
Over an hour of often rambling remarks, the New York businessman reveled in the crowd size while he offered them his usual menu of patriotic pledges and carefree criticism of the media, his opponents and political correctness that he said his crowd similarly despised.
"We've gotten an amazing reception," Trump said as he began his remarks, turning his back to the podium at the Ladd-Peebles Stadium and pointing to the rafters behind him. "Has this been crazy? Man!"
The event had the trappings of a big Friday night high school match-up. Trump flew by the stadium in his private jet shortly before 6 p.m., doing a loop around the arena before landing. The fly-by was announced over the stadium's loudspeaker to cheers.
The event was previously planned to be held at the nearby Civic Center but was moved to the 43,000-seat Ladd-Peebles Stadium -- a venue normally home to high school football games -- to accommodate the crowd. The City of Mobile confirmed late Friday that 30,000 people attended.
"It was one of the greatest events Mobile ever put on aside from Mardi Gras," said Colby Cooper, Mayor Sandy Stimpson's chief of staff.
Trump -- whose victory in national and early-state polls is no longer a surprise -- has in recent weeks taken steps to quickly professionalize his political operation. And his event at a stadium that each year hosts college football's Senior Bowl was an effort to assemble the grandest show of force yet.

“. . . split into 2 nations”
Uh. Tennessee here. We tried that in the 1800’s. Feds fixed our wagon. Won’t try that again.
Agreed. He’s been a breath of fresh air, in sticking it to the PC schmucks. I love that it drives them nuts! and that he doesn’t fall lock step in with the DC slap d*cks,
I heard that security carted some protesters out. Also, I saw one video where there is space between the podium and the audience, and there were security walking up and down it- no way the BLM crowd is going to get near him.
The answer back from his reporter was great "No Black people, just normal people".
Mobile has around 200,000 people. To get 30,000 people to show up on an overcase Friday night is much more impressive than getting 28,000 liberal Starbucks drinkers to show up in Seattle, with a population of 700,000 people; 2,000,000 if you include all the liberals in King County.
Chris Matthews must think that Trump had a sign out front of the stadium saying ,”NO BLACKS ALLOWED!!!” There is no reason for Blacks and Latinos not to participate in his events, other than that they’ve been brain-washed by Democrats into thinking that they are incapable of fending for themselves and that their welfare servitude is better than the freedom of achievement.
“Bye, bye political correctness”.
And good riddance. People are fed up with the PC-Political Crap.
Sorry, Twinkie, if you fight for freedom you will win if enough people want freedom. If you don’t? Sit quietly and wait for your masters to tell you what to do.
Trump also drew 30,000 in the heat and threatening rain. Some people probably stayed home who would have attended otherwise.
The 30,000 number of people attnding the Donald Trump, Mobile, Alabama rally is truly stunning & awesome....but the real telling numbers will come forward defining the number of Americans that watched the rally & speech on Cable TV News!!! I suspect the number will fall between 10-15 million viewers, if so, unbeilveable numbers!!!
Yes...the cities, vs. all the rest of the United States.
It's like that.

Hillary draws 300 to her orange jumpsuit pep rally.
If it ever happens that Trump is able to fill a 100,000 seat stadium CNN will say that the last political figure to do that was Adolph Hitler.
I loved the guillotine beside the stage. Very appropriate for current state of the country.
I was one of them. The rally happened on a Friday night and I went to Frank Pepe's pizza parlor to have a white clam pizza and a pitcher of Peroni.
I got home later last night and viewed on the YouTube.
I think more and more people are viewing political events this way. We should be counting those numbers in with those who tune in on live TV.
Yes, the numbers that really do count are the Cable TV viewers and the “You Tube” viewers!!! We should have them within the next few days!!
As for your pizza venture......I only have one word!!! “YUMMY”!!!
