“I also heard Hannity confirm that General Eisenhower gave the order to make it happen.”
Well if you haven’t learned to fact check Hannity I don’t know what to tell you. He’s a radio talker, not a historian.
The very first concentration camp to be discovered was Ohrdruf, on April 4, 1945. The General in charge of the troops who discovered Ohrdruf was Walton Walker.
Walker himself saw the camp on April 4th, and on April 5th he forced civilians from the surrounding towns to walk through it and see what the Nazi regime had been doing there.
On April 12th Eisenhower and Patton and Bradley visited the camp to see for themselves what General Walker had reported discovering. A week later Eisenhower cabled his boss General Marshall requesting that journalists and members of Congress be sent to witness the camps.
Thanks for the background. I don’t take Hannity at face value and thus don’t bother to fact check him for time reasons. But at least you and here agree that Eisenhower was involved.
There were hundreds of camps. Without reading an authoritative source I imagine other brass followed suit and rounded up German civilians to tour those camps.
You, sir, are a great American.
