I have been thinking about all that too. I occurred to me that our Lord did not does not always use only the devout to perform his will. I mean look at Obama! We needed the jolt.

I liked it that he said he tries to do better. That’s a big part of repentance, and the step many people don’t do.
But he was aware that the taking of communion and forgiveness are related. I sometimes wonder if those who take it as a matter of routine and ritual have forgotten it’s purpose
