“Yes, pre-1960s American morality is important. Pre-1850s American morality is even more important. Were not seeing enough American morality in recent immigrants and contemporary politics.”
Pre-1850 “morality” had slave owners running half the country and a complete disregard for human dignity. So, I don’t particularly put them in the highest regard. In fact, they were the opposite of moral. Today, their “morality” would be treated as crime against humanity and rightfully so.
That being said, the rest of what you say is true in that recent immigrants are generally moochers. That is not much different from the “native”. After all, 55% of the people are parasites living off of rich peoples’ gubmint-forced generosity.

Most of the slave owners of the South were more recent arrivals from Europe than those of the north. Slavery was nearly universal in the world before the 1700s (see peasants, commoners).
Here's one example of a slave owner in the north (what later became New York). The landowner's name was Abraham. He came to America in 1669. His slave learned well and tended one of Abraham's farms well. For two of the six years, the slave managed and worked the farm, while the landowner was back in Europe on business.
After six years, the slave was freed and given the farm that he'd managed so well. By the way, also contrary to feminist mythology, Abraham's daughter, Sarah, also owned land.

It's hard to establish work, where big manufacturing has been shut down, and nearly every productive activity is effectively outlawed by zoning, planning, building laws and onerous fees and taxes.
Most of the recent immigrants and others who are now doing well, are receiving incomes directly or indirectly from big government spending. That will come to an end in the default process for lack of sustainable revenues from a large manufacturing base.
The problem of artificial scarcity will be solved by a much more distributed, less regulated manufacturing base with open source equipment designs. But first, the completion of the default process.
