I agree with your post.
He was overwhelmed by the job of POTUS and relied on leftist advisors.
He basically stumbled into the job in the aftermath of Vietnam and Nixon.
But fundamentally a decent fellow.
More like incompetent (for example, Ham Jordan) and corrupt (see Bert Lance). Griffin Bell was one of the few of the Georgia crowd he took to Washington who might have been up to the job.
If he were a fundamentally decent fellow he wouldn’t be shilling for and promoting muslim terrorist groups to buck up his failed mid-east “peace” initiatives.
He wants to be remembered well despite his incompetence in office, his post-office pandering to dictators and terrorists and meddling in domestic as well as foreign affairs.
I don’t want to dance or piss on his grave like I do for Clinton and Obama but I have no sympathy for a person who has contributed so little to country and attempted/supported so much damage to the Constitution.
But fundamentally a decent fellow.....Yes, he hated our ally, Isreal. He hated our ally the Shah of Iran. He was a stellar Marxist. The Chinese, to this day, thank him for giving them the Panama Canal.
I used to think this but he is anti-semitic- a charge made by several formal advisers. He is also quite arrogant which his hidden by a charming southern accent.
