There are some people whom pollsters are reluctant to approach. Some people select themselves as respondents. Many who always turn out to vote will not participate in polls.Legitimate polls are done randomly by phone so the first two wouldn't apply. The third point is legitimate since I will not participate in a poll. I agree that polling doesn't always end up correct, but they are usually within margins of error which can be quite wide.

Often so wide as to be useless. In addition, I’m sure you are aware that many “polls” are actually push-polls.
