Interesting. Buicks seem to be more popular in the PR of China based on trips I’ve taken there over the last decade or so.
The last Chinese Emperor's personal car was a Buick, so it is seen as a status symbol in China. GM almost killed the make before getting a clue.
Well, they are better than Chevies and not as showy or expensive as Caddies. It’s a status symbol there. Had relations with Russia gone better (and the corruption in Russia stated at reasonable levels) after the breakup of the USSR, wealthy Russians were clamoring for US goods and we could have set up shop there. Now they generally buy European stuff.

Since GM is government owned it would be only fitting to
sign over some of it’s assets to resolve foreign debt.
I’d say sell GM to China and save us from having to bail the bums
out, again, later on. GM doesn’t deserve to be in business
in this country. They are nothing more than a government
subsidized work program for the over paid and unemployable.
Last time I was there I saw lots of Jeep Grand Cherokees and lots of BMWs.
I was in Southern China and I asked the plant manager about his Series 7 BMW and how it fits into the Communist ideals.
He said that in Southern China they practice a sort of modified Communism. ;o)
