In other words Kasich is announcing he will soon be out of the race, or announcing he will soon be running as democrat, which is no great surprise either way.

Kasich isn’t seriously running for president. This position is political suicide, especially in the Republican primary.
Kasich is going for big contributions from the money men who run the establishment. He wants a piece some of that Jeb Bush money, so he can line the pockets of himself and those closest to him. It’s pretty smart, actually. Besides, by being a lefty Republican, what few votes he gets will hurt the establishment candidates. Go Kasich!
