Yup, to be fair, he is new at being a politician. He doesn’t know all the issues as thoroughly as many people here do. On these issues he stumbles on, I think he is just giving his gut reaction. He very well may discuss it later with his advisors or people like Rush, Sessions, etc, get a better feel for what precisely was being asked of him, and clarify. Nothing wrong with that. Who he looks to for advice and support matters a great deal. The fact that he seems to have worked with Senator Sessions on the immigration issue makes me feel pretty confident he is turning to the right people - at least on that issue.
He knows who’s serving the red meat... and that is a sign of a good leader. He knows where to get his advice.
I have cautious hope. The Trump phenomenon has, so to speak, fracked the well of populism.
