Beg pardon. You are correct and I was reading the 14th as if more wording followed that clause. But there is a period there.
Terrible wording; cannot believe the Amendment passed as worded.
It passed that way without the understanding of people who would travel, especially when pregnant, and without foresight that those who would come to this country would not want to assimilate and become Americans.
I would support an amendment to require that the mother be here legally with permanent residence.
At that time the framers never envisioned millions of illegals running over her to have a baby and collect welfare.
