I'm impressed because Jeff Sessions is positively the most knowledgeable, fair and decent guy in congress when it comes to immigration issues. I'll be even more impressed if Trump adopts what Jeff advises to him.

And I will even more impressed if Trump adheres to them if elected. The problem is that Trump's policy on immigration is utterly incoherent as is his policy on virtually every other issue. It is good that he is being schooled by Sen. Sessions but the main question is whether Trump's ego can be put in a lockbox long enough for him to actually act on Sen. Sessions advice or will he blast off in any direction that tickles his fancy once he gains the office?

His incoherence on all the issues is hardly reassuring.

Definitely agree which is why I am willing to give him a look at this point, but not a commitment.

In the unlikely event, Trump will have to bring in Boner and Ditch and spend some time knocking some sense and sence of urgency into them. Or fire them...

I don't know. Between this, Forbes, Laffer, and Cruz meetings it's looking like a "trend" to me....

If these were normal times, which they are not, them I would take a more jaundiced eye to Trump’s grasp of policy issues, but he “gets” the general idea that the culture, the nation, is near collapse. I’ve yet to see this fact shine through to everyone else in the race except Ted Cruz.

It would be a lot easier if Trump had a proven track record as a conservative thinker.

However, consider this. Trump is going to get a lot of conservative support simply because he is not GOPe. He will get some Republican support from those who admire his get things done reputation.

If he had a long, published track record as a conservative, I doubt he could get support from voters who supported the Blue Dog Dems, and those working class Democrats who are dismayed at what Obama hath wrought on the border, and who are not comfortable with the leftward lurch of the party.

Yeah, he has been incoherent and has done a lot of “evolving” recently. In normal times I’d shy away from somebody like Trump, but these are not normal times. If something doesn’t happen to dismantle the GOPe machine, they are going to sell out conservatism for cheap labor and a voting block that will make conservatives irrelevant for a generation.

Trump is a bit of a snake oil salesman to someone like me used to voting for the most conservative GOP offering. I hope Cruz has truly left the GOP reservation, but how can we be sure? Carly? No way. Walker? Jeb with better patter.

It’s Trump’s dubious magic elixir or the hemlock that the Uniparty is pushing on us.

If the guy puts his mind to something, he tends to achieve it.

Incoherent by virtue of few details, but I'm reminded of the litigious effort a Chicago newspaper made to prove Henry Ford ignorant. Ford was challenged with questions concerning historical facts and numbers, but eventually, Ford had enough. His response:

“If I should really WANT to answer the foolish question you have just asked, or any of the other questions you have been asking me, let me remind you that I have a row of electric push-buttons on my desk, and by pushing the right button, I can summon to my aid men who can answer ANY question I desire to ask concerning the business to which I am devoting most of my efforts. Now, will you kindly tell me, WHY I should clutter up my mind with general knowledge, for the purpose of being able to answer questions, when I have men around me who can supply any knowledge I require?”

Ego is necessary to get anything done. If it’s in harness with the superego, which I think it is in Trump’s case, best of all.

“His incoherence on all the issues is hardly reassuring.”

What is incoherent about building a wall, what is incoherent about building up the military, about deporting illegals, about getting better trade deals, about rebuilding American pride in their country, about actually wanting to stop ISIS?

Can anybody put your ego in a lockbox? Even for a day? You just cannot allow your pride to give way - even when the man does something correct in your eyes - can you?. Pathetic.
