I have seen that movie many times. It is fantasy. Andy’s character was based on that he was a nobody and a drunk. Find another movie if you must.
A Face In The Crowd was based on Will Rogers and Arthur Godfrey. Radio, the movies and television has produced many a charlatan and fraud which fooled the masses. Trump is just the latest manifestation.
Actually the Andy Griffith character is supposedly based on radio and TV personality Arthur Godfrey, if you’re old enough to remember him.
In public Godfrey came off as a genial, folksy guy but in real life he was a mean SOB.
The contrast to Trump should be plain to see- Trump takes shots at public figures who have taken shots at him, but there aren’t any stories about Trump being a nasty character in private life. Even his ex-wife has come to his defense.
