Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton entrusted her email server to an IT firm that was not cleared to handle classified materials, according to the chief spokesman for the Defense Security Service.
The DSS is an arm of the Defense Department and is the only federal agency authorized to approve private sector company access to sensitive or confidential material.
The agency reviews and approves private contractors to assure they have secure facilities and approves security clearances for employees to clear them for access to sensitive or classified materials.
Since 2013, Clinton used Platte River Networks, a small Denver-based company, to upgrade and maintain her private email server at her home in Chappaqua, New York.
About 13,000 companies have received FCL or facility-wide clearance. But Platte River is not one of them.
Platte River is not cleared to have access to classified material, stated Cindy McGovern, chief public affairs officer for DSS in a telephone interview with The Daily Caller News Foundation.
Sen. Ron Johnson, chairman of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, told the DCNF that the Platte River involvement raises serious questions about the security surrounding Secretary Clintons server over the last two years.
The revelation that Secretary Clinton used a private company, Platte River Networks, to maintain her personal server raises questions about what steps the company took to preserve and secure sensitive information in Secretary Clintons email, Johnson said.
The DSS provides clearances to 30 federal departments and agencies, including the State Department.
Alex McGeorge, the head of threat intelligence at the IT cybersecurity firm Immunity told The DCNF that all facilities approved for access to classified materials need a SCIF or Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility also known as a hardened room.
Its a room that is resistant to eavesdropping and unauthorized entry limited to personnel with security clearances. That would be a room that where data coming in and out of the room is tightly controlled, he said.
According to the Associated Press, the intelligence community inspector general reported to Congress Monday that Hillarys emails contained at least two messages with information considered Top Secret.
For servers that contain Top Secret information, you would have to have very compartmentalized clearance to see. Those standards are much higher, McGeorge said.
The DSS current mission is carried out under the National Industrial Security Program (NISP), the rules of which were established by President Clinton in 1993 with Executive Order 12829.
WHY would someone hire a firm in Denver to do work in a house in New York State???
This gets smellier each & every day.
If I had her problem trying to have a private server-—I would have hired the guy who is the Security guru on Shark Tank.
Didn’t this guy realize what he was getting into when he agreed to run the server for Hillary Clinton? Poor schmuck is probably going to end up being ruined by this.
The server which Platte River networks had for Hillary was wiped clean in June 2013 when it went into storage, over two years ago.
Platte River said the information “was transitioned”.
Well, where was it transitioned to?
There may have been more than emails on it.
So now the hunt is on for where did the emails get transitioned to?
After all Hillary only produced them this year.
Where were they resident prior to this year?
Is this letter legally binding on the recipient?
Is it a Subpoena?
You mean Mrs. Bill Clinton lied when she said she followed all the laws regarding the security of her emails? Shocking....not. Lock her up.
Hillery will throw uncounted numbers of staff members under the bus to avoid this one.
The server company will sing like a canary. Any back-ups or copies they have will be handed over.
Loyal staffers will self immolate to cover for Hillary. Eventually some of them will decide that it is better for Hillary to burn than themselves. That is when it gets interesting.
+1
I’m thinking that we are being fed these little snippets of information well past the dates they occurred. Little rumblings here and there indicate they server was turned over about two weeks ago.
I imagine that all the players in this have been interrogated and cataloged. The delay is because of hillary’s pathological stubbornness about withdrawing her candidacy. It’s going to be hugely embarrassing, and she’s probably threatened to blow the whistle on Obama’s crap. Her being a candidate for president is probably the only shield she has left and she’ll use it as long as she can.
They are also figuring out how to punish her. A prison inmate with Secret Service protection? That bitch is a mess.
Looks to me like he’s ‘asking’ .... just my opinion. He cites at the end of the letter where the Committee is authorized & what it can look into. Platte River is lawyered up ... no telling if they’ll cooperate or not at this point, although they are in really ‘deep’ since they had no security clearances. They’ve also been involved in some other really sketchy stuff - I’m wondering if whoever hired them for Hillary’s server knew about it and chose them because of it. What a tangled web .....
EXCLUSIVE: Tech company which maintained Hillary’s secret server was sued for ‘illegally accessing’ database and ‘stealing White House military advisers’ phone numbers’

If she isn't elected, there will be no safe place for her.
Since Platt River did not have the proper clearance to perform this type of work, that should have disqualified them from receiving the contract. Who awarded the contract? The State Department? If so, it should have been awarded in accordance with the guidelines contained in the Federal Acquisition Regulations ("FAR") Does this mean that, in addition to everything else, Hillary is guilty of violating federal contracting laws?
Of course, and she picked them for a reason. No doubt we will learn what it was.
Hillary may not be, but this outfit is done.
This whole Kabuki Theater debate on Hillary's use of a private, home brew server to conduct all of her correspondence as Secretary of State is simply a farce and a distraction.
Regardless of what was on her server, the simple fact that she set up her own system to circumvent the official State Department communications network is a felony in and of itself.
Hillary is not a naive movie either. She is a Yale educated lawyer, she spent 8 years as what she terms “Co-President “ of the United States, She was a sitting Senator for 8 years, during which time she was a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, a position where she exposed to Top Secret information on a regular basis and taught how to recognize and properly handle secret government information, and she finally was Secretary of State of the US.
She knowingly and willfully broke the rules to keep her correspondence “private “ .
Of course, since the server was un secured, the only people who did not have access to it were the people who had legitimate reasons for access.
Pretty much every foreign intelligence agency has everything and we know for a fact that at least one Eastern European hacker by the name of Guccifer successfully penetrated Hillary's server.
Exactly. If that was my business and Shrillary was calling me there would not have been a return call.
Ah, if she were only subject to the laws that govern regular Americans...what could have been. Justice might have actually prevailed. I wonder who is clamoring to take the fall for her this time.
Dude be a dead man walking....
The destruction of America.
That is the end game.
Bitch thought she could make her own rules.
Everyone knew but gave her enough rope.
Win, win.
She goes down but, not before opening up our security to those who wish to do the most harm - a certain honeypot comes to mind.
Usually it is men who lose everything over the wrong pu**-y.
Figures it would be the first female presidential candidate.
So...Master Barry.....did you ever send or receive an e-mail from (or to) Secretary of State Clinton...?
Scrivener.....please have the Sargent at Arms prepare accomodation for Master Barry in the Tower.....also for the three ladies in waiting....Clinton, Abeden and Mills.
