TRUMP EFFECT: IS ERICK ERICKSON THROWING DOWN GAUNTLET TO RUSH LIMBAUGH?
Breitbart ^ | 8-12-2017 | Edmund Wright

Posted on 08/14/2015 5:39:49 AM PDT by C. Edmund Wright

Did we just see Erick Erickson’s Red State draw a red line in the sand in front of Rush Limbaugh? And if so, is it another aspect of the booming dynamic known as “the Trump effect?”

That very case can be made – as Erickson used Red State’s daily email blast lead story from Dan McLaughlin on Wednesday to fire shots across the bow of all talk radio hosts who are in any way supporting Donald Trump. And while Erickson does not have the by-line on this indictment, it is right in line with his recent dis-invitation of Trump to speak at the recent Red State gathering. (snip)

(snip) gauntlet is thrown down on all talkers with the bombastic warning that “all those in a position of leadership…. cable and talk radio hosts, pundits, columnists, bloggers – (who are) actively encouraging the Trump phenomenon, you are neither a conservative nor a Republican anymore and should not expect anyone to take you seriously again.”

There’s nothing else to add to that, other than to notice that a direct endorsement of Trump was not a requirement here – no – merely the encouragement “of the Trump phenomenon” is in and of itself damning.

And just in case anyone still missed the main point of the article, it closed with the harsh notice that “Donald Trump’s feckless campaign is a millstone…. take it off your necks, or be drowned by it.” The close was dramatically stark on purpose.

Translation: Those talk leaders who now speak well of Trump’s campaign are heading for a major embarrassment down the line….and ole Erick will be there to remind them.

I don’t disagree with that. But even people who are wrong often are occasionally right...and even those who are usually right are wrong sometimes.

I think in this case, the best understanding of Trump is somewhere between Rush and EE. I also know that time will tell, period, end of discussion.

Isn’t the reality, every presidential election in recent years, we are stuck with the GOPe because they have the money and the infastructure?
hold your nose and vote for Mr GOPe 20o8! Hold your nose and vote for Mr GOPe 2012! and hold your nose and vote for Mr GOPe 2016!

Well, this time around things are a little different.
Cruz has the infastucture and Trump definitely has the $$$.
If Trump would back Cruz there would be no stopping Cruz.
In my not so humble opinion.
Offer Trump DHS?

I think he came out with outlandish liberal positions recently on Planned Parenthood funding, on Ford in Michigan, and on exonerating Frank and Dodd - and ALL Democrats - from the economic collapse.

Ain’t so much as a smidgeon of Reagan in those positions. I’m not talking 1999 or 2004 or 2011...I’m talking last two weeks.

You make a lot of points I totally agree with.....but not sure how it ties into this topic? I simply reject that it’s either Trump or the GOP e candidate. I don’t think Jeb or Kasich are going anywhere, period. I think the GOP e has been dinged very badly even since 2012. 2014’s elections and 2015’s governance has done a lot of it. Trump has done more.

It’s not Trump V Jeb, period. If it were, and if at some point it evolves into that, then that’s another topic.

Do go on. Tell me what GOPe candidate is really, truly different this election. What is the path to electing a “true conservative” with no Trump in the race?

I’m not a fan of Trump’s ideology. I’m just a fan of Trump as a mechanism to derail the GOP path to Jeb or a Jeb clone as the nominee.

Erick Erick is a little mysoginistic upstart with a come lately website. He couldn’t be a gofer in Limbaugh’s office. The guy is pathetic. He pushed every RINO over the more conservative candidates for the GA senate seat til we finally ended up with David Perdue. Another RINO. We might as well have kept Saxby. Erickson is finally getting the public trouncing he deserves.

I don’t know about his local Georgia political situations...so I’ll take your word for it.

But again, I warn you, don’t let your feelings about EE totally prevent you from coldly and logically assessing whether or not he has a point. Even if he’s wrong 95 times out of 100 - we need to be on the look out for those 5. And BTW, you call him pathetic, which is fine, but every candidate including Trump BADLY BADLY wanted to speak to his event. Just sayin.......

Whoa dude, stop emoting and start reading more carefully and start thinking a little harder. I never said that there is a GOPe candidate who's different this election. I mean, WTF did that come from? False choice. Not relevant.

I said in fact that the choice is NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT Trump or the GOP e. I think the choice is Trump or Cruz or Walker frankly. I don't think Jeb's going anywhere. Dittos Kasich or Rudio.

Now the other part of your rant is nonsense, given that I've ALWAYS maintained that it's a good thing Trump is in the race. I just don't think it's so good if he wins the race. Slow down. Calm yourself. Don't assume you know what I'm thinking and skipping the step of READING CAREFULLY.

Could be. I’m not a big believer in coincidences when it comes to politics, however.

FYI...this hits Breitbart late yesterday...David Limbaugh on Hannity last night with his Trump doubts...and today in Townhall on the same issue...and then today’s opening monologue on Rush? ZERO Trump mentions.

All I’m doing is pointing it out. These dots may connect, or not. But when was the last Rush opening segment that didn’t focus on Trump, let alone not even mention him? Of his last 50 openings, how many have not focused on Trump?

Just sayin......EE is not the issue, but the over all Trump Effect in the conservative media is.

Well truthfully Erickson has little effect on National Politics so he’s probably thrilled to be getting so much attention. Even negative attention is better than no attention.

I wouldn’t call it a coincidence....I would just say that someone can cooperate in a plan simply by being themselves, not by being in on the plan.

That’s my theory here, but you are at least 50% right about Cruz playing chess. Who knows, maybe you’re 100% right. I would not rule it out, just not my reading of it at this point.

Oh yeah, he’s thrilled with the attention. Not my favorite aspect of this whole thing.

Yep, i wondered off topic. So, to bring it back i would say EE is like a waterboy for a sports team. He thinks the players like him but really they could care less. He’s just a waterboy and someone has to felch their water.

Let’s see how Rush responds. I heard him last week basically say that no one was going to tell him who to put on his show when people whined about Erickson. And now it seems Erickson has not returned that favor. So Erickson also seems self-defeating...wonder if someone stole Erick’s meds???

The longer we keep pretending he is a viable candidate, the greater chance of a Democrat in the White House.

So you support Hillary then?

Erikson is correct in saying that encouraging a candidate with Trump's liberal history is not a conservative thing to do.

You should ask Jebbie's pac to contribute here so you can keep on schilling.
