In the Cleveland debate, Donald Trump refused to commit to support whomever the Republican Party nominates in 2016.
Trump would be wise to maintain his freedom of action.
For there is a plot afoot in the Washington Post Conservative Club to purge Trump from the Republican Party before the primaries begin.
A political party has a right to secure its borders, asserts the Posts George Will, a duty to exclude interlopers. Will wants The Donald excommunicated and locked out of all GOP debates until he kneels and takes a loyalty oath to the nominee.
Marginalizing Trump carries no risk of alienating a substantial Republican cohort, Will assures us, for these Trumpites are neither Republicans nor conservatives. Better off without such trash.
The Posts Michael Gerson says establishment Republicans must make clear that [Trump] has moved beyond the boundaries of serious and civil discourse. He loathes the Trumpites as much as Will.
Trumps followers are xenophobic, Gerson tells CNN. They have a resentment of outsiders, of Mexico, of China, and immigrants. Thats more like a European right-wing party, a UKIP or a National Front in France. Republicans cant incorporate that.
But if the GOP has no room for Trumps followers, it has no future. For there simply arent that many chamber-of-commerce and country-club Republicans.
Trump should tell the GOP, in the neocons favorite phrase, All options are on the table. And that includes the Samson Option.
Trump should tell the GOP that if it disrespects him and his followers, then he is prepared to do as did the biblical hero Samson, when, blinded and mocked by the Philistines, he pushed the pillars apart and brought the temple down upon the heads of them all.

SCUM is Walker and Mari Will and their pet, George.
Priebus loves Trump. Trump took out the Tea Party for him.
F them!
I am so sick and dam tired of listening to their bovine manure.
Correct on all three!
What an encouraging post!
Did not know that about Prescott. No wonder shrub is light on women’s health.
Trump is appealing to so many apolitical types it’s scaring the elites. The 20-30 something y/o guys (who aren’t political) connect to Trump when he says he’s going to “destroy ISIS and take the oil”. Or build a “totally massive wall and make Mexico pay for it”. The political class mocks and laughs, but the regular folks eat it up. Trump is a genius marketer.
You figured them all correctly, IMHO.
If something like this were to happen, it would be totally on the GOPe’s head now and then.
Trump has spoken at tea party rally. Why would he want to take them out ?
the elites are terrified of losing control. Without control there is no power for them. The elites are just the old man behind the curtain controlling the great and powerful wizard of oz

So we finally found a border that the GOPe actually wants to secure: the border of the Republican party, keeping out all those xenophobes who want things like a border wall, and an actual immigration policy.
Well people need only pay attention without the rose colored glasses on. Thats the thing about ‘Obvious’. It exists whether they want it to or not ;)
“Obvious. It exists whether they want it to or not ;)”

Most TEA voters are now backing someone other than a hated conservative.
I'm in a "traditionally Democrat" part of Iowa, surrounded by people who wouldn't vote Republican if they got free beer for a year by doing so... and these people like their beer. There have already been a couple of the talkative ones in my circle showing interest in Trump, basically because they are fed up with EVERYbody. They've been screwed, blued and tattooed by the PTB and they know it, but as you said, the Republican brand has been like poison to them.
