U.S. authorities have launched an investigation into the former chairman of Dean Foods, the country's largest milk processor, who is suspected of leaking confidential information about a corporate spinoff to a professional gambler, who in turn is thought to have tipped off pro golfer Phil Mickelson, the Wall Street Journal reported.
Tom Davis, 66, abruptly resigned as chairman last week ahead of Dean Foods' second quarter earnings release on Monday. The company declined to provide details on his sudden departure, while Davis' lawyer said his resignation was voluntary, the WSJ reported.
The Securities and Exchange Commission together with the Manhattan U.S. attorney's office are probing whether Davis leaked information on the company's 2012 spinoff of its WhiteWave Foods subsidiary to prominent sports bettor William "Billy" Walters, people familiar with the investigation said. The WSJ has previously reported that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had looked into potential trading by Mickelson in Dean Foods. The golfer is at the center of a larger investigation into insider trading.
No I did not..I see what you mean, I posted the link URL I said it was CNBC
Under author, I wondered about that, I thought I was supposed to put my user ID,but I guess they wanted the actual cnbc writer...good call
I dont think I can do anything to correct at this point?
“PHIL MICKELSON UNDER SERIOUS INVESTIGATION BY FBI”
Does the FBI do non serious investigations?
Allegation: Primary gives info to a secondary who then passes it on to a third party. If he did not tell the third party how he got it, howe can it be insider info?
Why isn’t that golfer in the Rainbow Palace being investigated yet?
My appologies
I have myself as the AUTHOR, it should read cnbc.com staff that was the only name on the article
my bad
If I could fix it I would./..mod if you are listening., sorry, perhaps you could change?
Serious investigation?
Seriously? Are we sure it isn’t really a non-serious investigation?
Phil on Trump
Phil Mickelson has expressed his disappointment at the comments on immigration made by Donald Trump and the ‘awkward situation’ they have created for professional golf.
I think we were all disappointed to hear his comments,’ Mickelson said ahead of the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open at Gullane.
those are just 2 snips
“Only we inside the Beltway are allowed to trade on insider information!”
The PGA is overwhelmingly republican. Most people want to keep the money they make and golfers, especially world class golfers, make a lot of money. Here’s a list of well known golfers, then a list of athletes, who are probably republican.

Likely written by his PR people. Phil has endorsements that total north of $50 million annually. Many of these companies likely rely on Hispanic consumers. His golf game is clearly past its peak, and endorsements are his long term lifeline.
Surprised his pharm commercials are still being aired.

Congress made the steroid bit in MLB as a concern for national security, and spent a huge amount on hearings and bravado. Maybe golfers are the next target. Of course, there are no other pressing matters in the country. /s
One of the reasons they live in Texas and Florida is the no state income tax. Say what you want about Tiger Woods but that was one of the first things he did when he started winning and one of the reasons he rarely plays in the tournaments in California unless it is a major.
Of course all of the states with income tax devised the scheme that pro sports and their athletes must pay out of state income taxes on the moneys they earn when they play games in those states.
“Look how fast the Feds move on this as opposed to moving on Hillary and the Server!”
Those of us who watch golf on TV have known about this investigation for nearly a year now. The rumors about Phil popped up during the Ryder Cup last year.
Meanwhile, there are unconfirmed reports that a humorous investigation of several other golfers is also underway.
Look for Hillary to try on some “orange clothes” down the road.
agreed goes without saying, my point was just that Phil is not necessarily any more conservative than Tiger, both are A political to an extent.
Did not know this was going on for a year now.
mind you, I posted the link of a few weeks ago were Phil takes issue with Trump.
.....Or they go NUTS, congress over the name of “Redskins” for a certain NFL team.
