Two things:
WSJ and NR are not reliably conservative; and
Fox had in the past touted itself as "fair and balanced", and "we report, you decide."
That's why there is outrage. Fox for the past ten years was always the one and only place where a conservative point of view could be heard. Now that new leadership has apparently decided to change all that, viewers were taken off guard.

Other than for talkradio and the internet, there is not all that much out there in regards to the tv that can be offered to conservatives.
