Ending Tax Socialism September 13, 1996
In 1848 Marx and Engels proposed that progressive taxation be used to wrest, by degrees, all capital from the bourgeois, to centralize all instruments of production in the hands of the state. Although communism has failed, the idea of progressive taxation, as a means of achieving social justice, remains ingrained in the modern liberal psyche.
Your true colors are showing.
Yes, the idea of a progressive income tax with different rates for different levels of income is one of those bizarre, unjustifiable ideas that could only come from left-wing schemers trying to implement communist policy in stealth ways. There is absolutely no economic justification to segment off higher levels of income and tax it a progressively higher rate. None whatsoever. There’s no precedent in history for that in any kind of tithing or what have you. It was a bizarre concept thought up by progressive marxists.
Why should anyone be entitled to keep less of their money just because they earn more than someone else? Progressive taxation is when taxes stopped being a “fair share” and started being income redistribution.
