Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said that he is against a flat tax and people as they make more and more money can pay a higher percentage in an interview broadcast on Wednesdays Hannity on the Fox News Channel.

Go hump his book someplace else!
That’s his plan this week. In the past he wanted to increase taxes on job creators and impose a 15% tax on all wealth. Next week, who knows what his tax stance will be.
At best Trump has always been a RINO. The reality is he’s a Democrat demagogue and a plant. His job is to keep the real conservatives down. One thing the Dems fear is Scott Walker. He’s killed them over and over again. Think throne of skulls.
Trump wants a top tax rate of 15%? What a Socialist!
IMHO: I agree that he may be starting to work the general public. I disagree with others who say "he's making it up as he goes." He may not be everything but he didn't get to where he is by being that stupid. As for working the general public, that makes sense. He's already blitzkrieg'd the GOPe and established his dominance there. But not Cruz, of course. He's not directing anything against Ted as it is likely he would offer him a place in the administration.
Repeatedly. The children of Hamlin in his tow are another matter.
I’m no big Trump fan.
But I know Walker is a preferred candidate of the GOPe—which and that is all I need to know.
Ted Cruz is the only real conservative in the race
it would be nice if ted was not such a free trader & his immigration position is basically to not give citizenship to the trespassers. If he will get clear on immigration & explain why we need to treble H-1b visas I would consider him.
“Has he finally stumbled?”
According to Trump Derangement Syndrome Sufferers, Trump stumbles 10 times a day. And as is Typical for anti-Trump posts, a few sentences are quoted out of context.
As regards a flat tax or so called fair tax. Popular as those notions might be with conservatives, they’re nonstarters politically. You’re not going to get widespread agreement to the idea that someone who earns 30,000 a year should be paying the same rate of tax as someone who earns 30 million. You can call it progressive, regressive, or late for dinner: it’s still a nonstarter.
What Trump is proposing instead is a drastic simplification and reduction of tax rates. You would think that conservatives would like that. In my own case putting pen to paper, my taxes would drop by about a third to half. Wow. I think I can live with that. As an added bonus, everyone pays something. Even those at the bottom of the income scale who would currently pay nothing. They pay a token 1% which gives them some needed skin in the game.
All in all its a simplification and tax cut and a very Reaganesque move. But for TDS sufferers, no proposal is good or conservative if it comes from Donald Trump.
Actual paragraph from article:
“Trump was asked, [relevant exchange beings around 3:00] You want to lower the tax, you want to implement a flat tax. Trump objected to this characterization. After host Sean Hannity said, I thought you liked the flat tax. Trump stated, The problem with the flat tax is its sort of the same. I actually believe that people as they make more and more money can pay a higher percentage. Later he added, I dont like where everybodys paying the same. If I make a billion dollars, and somebody else is making a hundred, and hes paying ten dollars and Im paying to me, I dont know. I like somewhat of a graduation. What you have now is a system thats too complicated. The easiest thing to do is make that system uncomplicated, and make it really good, make it really good. And you know, as far as the IRS, people say Lets get rid of the IRS, somebodys got to collect the money. Regarding simplifying the tax code, also stated, The word is simplification. We can simplify. We can get rid of deductions.
Those making up to $30,000 will pay 1 percent.
Income from $30,000 to $100,000 is assessed a flat 5 percent tax.
$100,000 to $1 million income will be taxed at 10 percent.
$1 million or above will be taxed 15 percent.”
Unfortunately, that tax scheme, with those rates, wouldn't raise enough revenue to pay for national defense and Social Security. A better, simpler alternative would be a flat income or consumption tax rate (say, 15%) with a fixed zero-bracket amount (say, $7500 per household member). Although the tax rate is proportional, the incidence of such a tax would be “progressive” because of the zero-bracket provision.
“It will be interesting to see the spin on this from the Trump supporters here on FR.”
Not nearly as interesting as seeing the pathologies exhibited by Trump Derangement Syndrome sufferers.
What DT is actually proposing is a drastic simplification of the tax code combined with a drastic reduction in the rates. If you actually take pen to paper, most people will find that their taxes drop dramatically.
For those of us who are old enough to remember, this is remarkably similar to a tax plan championed by none other than Ronald Reagan. EXCEPT the tax rate reductions and simplification proposed by DT are far more drastic.
But of course for the TDS sufferer, this sort of proposal is an example of “liberalism” at it’s worst.
“I’d prefer the Fair Tax, but Trump’s plan does not seem overly Democratic to me.”
It isn’t. And for those who are not fixated on the messenger, its a plan that will drastically reduce the taxes for the middle class. And it’s easy to figure out: take AGI from last years tax return, multiply it by the rates proposed and compare it to what you actually paid. In my own case, my taxes drop by about a third to half. I think I can live with that.
I didn’t say you should support anybody I asked if you could show me where your guy Dubya was more Conservative than Trump on a number of important issues.. you evidently can’t which makes you a hypocrite when you criticize Trump’s views on Planned Parenthood, the border or his tax plan among many other issues..
No, If you look at his tax plan. The highest rate is 15%. for those making a million or more.
My taxes would go down substantially under Trump’s plan.
Trump said unequivocally that as long as Planned Parenthood performed abortions they should not be funded. If they went out of the abortion business and handled other areas of women healthcare fine, but no abortions.
Please.
