Pancreatic cancer - well, any cancer - is a horror. And pancreatic, like most internal organs, is quick from the time of the diagnosis.
And yet SCOTUS The Honorable Ruth Bader Ginsberg, who underwent surgery related to pancreatic cancer on Feb. 5, 2009, continues on, defying all expectations.
Somebody we know who has pancreatic cancer recently went through an ex-vivo resection a procedure in which surgeons take out a patients organs and operate on them to remove tumors that cannot be treated any other way and then sew the organs back in.
I had never heard of this before - thought the person telling me about it was confused, but when I looked it up, it is an actual procedure. The guy looks like a ghost, but he’s returned to church at least when previously he was at death’s door. It looks like the procedure has, at a minimum, bought him some time.
