And yes, Fox/Sony/Marvel and their fanboys have already played the race card to defend the movie as being hated because of racists. The same way that (R)epublicrats fall back on blaming defeats on Perot and others. Scapegoats! It ensures they will never learn a thing.
Purists are picking on a lot more than just Homey Torch. It turns out they really weren't trying too hard, it was just to keep their license for the franchise in play. Use it or lose it type arrangement. Hence, a half-assed movie that the loyalists despise.
